D-Day Anniversary Visit

6th June 1944 - a significant date in the history books when Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in the D-Day landings.

Tomorrow marks the 69th anniversary of the D-Day landings, so we were very excited about our trip to the Normandy beaches (especially after learning all about the history of this event in our World War Two). We even spoke to a few war veterans about their experiences.

We started the day with a delicious breakfast of cereal, baguette and hot chocolate, before packing our lunches and heading off to Arromanches.

I enjoyed visiting the 360 cinema - it was so different from a normal cinema, and the film was very moving. - Alex

The 360 cinema was epic and a bit scary! - Toby

The cinema was enoyable because the images surround you and the film was very interesting. Whilst walking on the beach we discovered oyster shells! - Tanisha

My favourite part of the day was the 360 cinema - it ws really cool! Hi to mum and dad. - Georgina

Today was really, really fun, apart from when I dropped my delicious, massive, chocolate ice-cream all over the pavement! - Nicholas

The Normandy beaches were cold, but it was fascinating to see the remains of the Mulberry Harbour. - Megan

Today was really tiring, however I enjoyed the day's events. - Sophie

We are all enjoying the week so far (especially the Brie! - Leah), the weather is lovely and it is awesome having a chalet! - Leah and Lucy

I like the chalet because it gives us some freedom. - Tinu

The chalets are spectacular because they are comfortable and it is great to have our own home from home. -Owen C R

We are very much enjoying staying at Forges-les-Eaux and we appreciate the independence of staying in our own chalets. When we went on the boat trip yesterday, we saw lots of beautiful gardens and extraordinary nature whilst sailing on a green, flat-bottom boat (gondola). - Orla and Grace
